Children’s illustrator and abstract painter, Julie Fortenberry holds a Master of Fine Arts from Hunter College in New York. She has done illustration work for clients such as Highlights High Five, Harcourt School Publications, Baltimore's Child, Boyds Mills Press, Babybug, and Ladybug Magazine. She has exhibited her abstract paintings in New York galleries and museums, including the Whitney Museum of American Art.
Julie finds inspiration in the illustration work of Douglas Florian, Jack Kent, Syd Hoff, Roz Chast, Marc Simont, Margaret Bloy Graham, Tibor Gergely, Ludwig Bemelmans, and Mary Blair.
